[Tokyo Revengers] Payan’s betrayal and Why he attacked Draken Involves Pah-chin!

[Tokyo Revengers] Payan's betrayal and Why he attacked Draken Involves Pah-chin!(C)Ken Wakui/Shueisha

There is a scene in Tokyo Revengers where Peh-yan betrayed Tokyo Manji gang and joined forces with the Moebius to attack Draken.

Originally, Payan is not the kind of guy who would betray Tokyo Manji gang, but because his partner and best friend Pah-chin was arrested, he lost his sense of normalcy, and Tetta Kisaki encouraged him to do so, which led to this act of betrayal.

Pah-chin turned himself in for stabbing Nobutaka Osanai, the president of Moebius, and after that Tokyo Manji gang was about to split into two factions.

  • Mikey Faction: To get Pah-chin released with money
  • Draken faction: To Respect Pah-chin’s decision

In fact, this was all part of Kisaki’s manipulation from behind the scenes, in order to cause internal conflict within Tokyo Manji gang.

In the end, Takemichi interceded between Mikey and Draken, and the internal conflict was averted, but only Peh-yan, who really wanted Pah-chin to be released, was not satisfied and decided to attack Draken.

Let’s take a closer look at what happened so far.

[Tokyo Revengers] How Peh-yan betrayed and attacked Draken?

Here we will explain how Peh-yan betrayed Tokyo Manji gang and made the decision to attack Draken.

First, let’s look at the relationship between Peh-yan and Pah-chin.

Peh-yan is vice-captain of 3rd division and Pah-chin’s good buddy!

Pah-chin is the captain of 3rd division in Tokyo Manji gang, and Peh-yan is the vice captain.

Their positions are also the same as captain and vice-captain, and Peh-yan admires Pah-chin even more than he does his superior.

In the story, Peh-yan almost unconditionally follows up on everything Pah-hin says and does, and you can see how much Peh-yan adores him.

Pah-chin stabbed Nobutaka Osanai and turns himself in.

In the story, Pah-chin’s best friend was lynched by Moebius and his girlfriend and family were also beaten up.

This is the reason why Pah-chin is so angry with Nobutaka Osanai, the president of Moebius, and Mikey understands Pah-chin’s feelings and decides to destroy Mobius.

Actually it was not Osanai’s fault that Pah-chin’s best friend, his girlfriend, and his family have been harmed, but this is another manipulation by Tetta Kisaki to get Pah-chin to stab Osanai.

And in the midst of planning a strategy to crush Moebius, Osanai showed up and the battle with Moebius suddenly started.

As a result, Pah-chin was defeated by Osanai, but Mikey defeated Osanai with a high kick instantly.

However, Pah-chin’s anger was too much then and he stabbed Osanai even though the fight was already over.

This was his plan all along, and as the sirens of the police car approached, he told Mikey

I’m going to turn myself in.

Mikey didn’t want him to be arrested, so he tried to take him with him, but Draken agreed with him and let him go.

In this way, Pah-chin was arrested, but for Tokyo Manji gang, this was where it all began.

Tokyo Manji gang was divided into Mikey and Draken factions over Pah-chin’s treatment.

After Pah-chin’s arrest, Tetta Kisaki approached Mikey behind his back and proposed the idea of using money to get Pah-chin out of prison.

Mikey wanted to get Pah-chin out of prison immediately, but Draken respected Pah-chin’s decision to turn himself in and opposed the idea.

As I said at the beginning of this article, Tokyo Manji gang was divided into two groups, Mikey’s group and Draken’s group.

  • Mikey Faction: To get Pah-chin released with money
  • Draken faction: To Respect Pah-chin’s decision

Naturally, Peh-yan wanted to get Pah-chin out of prison immediately, so he was in the Mikey side, and he gradually came to hate Draken.

Internal conflict was avoided, but Peh-yan was not convinced.

After that, Mikey and Draken started fighting in front of Takemichi’s house, but Takemichi desperately interceded (with poop on his head) and they made up rather easily.

By doing this, the internal conflict within Tokyo Manji gang that Kisaki was planning was averted and the matter was settled, but Kisaki immediately made the next move.

Kisaki teamed up with Shuji Hanma and made him the acting president of Moebius, which was on the verge of being dismantled. The plan of Kisaki is as follows.

  • Using Shuji Hanma’s leadership to bring the remnants of Moebius against Tokyo Manji gang.
  • He inspired Payan to attack Draken.
  • He inspired Kiyomasa to kill Draken.

In the end, Peh-yan was on the side of Moebius and helped him attack Draken.

While he distracted Draken, the remnants of Moebius attacked Draken from behind.

Mikey and the rest of Tokyo Manji gang rushed to the scene, and the battle between Tokyo Manji gang and Moebius began.

Peh-yan eventually came back to Tokyo Manji gang.

In the middle of the battle between Tokyo Manji gang and Moebius, there was a scene where Peh-yan complained to Mikey about the treatment of Pah-chin.

However, after hearing directly about Mikey’s feelings for Pah-chin, Peh-yan came to his senses and eventually returned to Tokyo Manji gang.

Incidentally, after Draken was stabbed by Kiyomasa, he was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, which was successful.

At that time, Takashi Mitsuya told Peh-yan that Draken was thinking about Pah-chin the most.

  • Draken used to go to visit Pah-chin every day.
  • Only relatives could see him, but he would wait outside all the time during the visits.

In the end, the internal conflict within Tokyo Manji gang, and Peh-yan’s betrayal, were all due to the fact that “his feelings for Parchin” were at the root of it all, and that they had come apart a little.

It was a scheme by Kisaki for Peh-yan to betray Tokyo Manji gang.

(C)Ken Wakui/Shueisha

By the way, as mentioned earlier, it wasn’t just Peh-yan’s personal feelings that made him decide to betray Tokyo Manji gang and attack Draken, but also Kisaki’s agitation.

I’m sure that Peh-yan had a lot of resistance to betraying Tokyo Manji gang and joining Moebius’s side, but it seems that he crossed the line because his feelings for Pah-chin were too strong, and because Kisaki took advantage of that.
