[Tokyo Revengers] Is Takemichi Hanagaki (Take-mitchy) the weakest captain in Tokyo Manji gang? How about his fight?

Takemichi is the captain of 1st division in Tokyo Manji gang (Toman).

However, Takemichi is not a strong fighter, and compared to the strength of Mikey and Draken, as well as the other captains, he is by far the weakest.

Here is a list of the names of the other captains for your reference. If you line up the captains like this, you’ll see that all of them except Takemichi are very good members.

division name of captain
1st Takemichi Hanagaki
2nd Takashi Mitsuya
3rd Haruki Hayashida
(acting captain: Ryohei Hayashi)
4th Nahoya Kawata
5th Yasuhiro Muto (He left)
6th Shuji Hanma (He left)

Mikey also mentioned Takemichi’s weakness in fighting, but Takemichi wasn’t chosen to be the captain of the 1st division because of his strength.

He was nominated by his deputy, Chifuyu, as the successor to the former captain of the 1st division, Keisuke Baji.

Therefore, Takemichi’s true strength is not his abilities, but his mental strength of will, and this is shown throughout the story of the Tokyo Revengers.

[Tokyo Revengers] A list of all the fights that Takemichi Hanagaki (Take-mitchy) got into!

Next, we’ve compiled a list of all the fights that Takemichi has been in, including the opponents and the results.

As mentioned earlier, Takemichi is one of the lowest ranked fighters in Tokyo Manji gang, so he basically loses a lot of fights and rarely wins.

By the way, being beaten up by Hinata Tachibana doesn’t count in this list.

Opponents volume and chapter Results
A soldier Vol.1, chapter 2 lose
Kiyomasa Vol.1, chapter 3 no winner
Kiyomasa and his cronies Vol.3, chapter 20 lose
Kiyomasa Vol.4, chapter 25 win
Valhalla Vol.6, chapter 51-
Vol.8, chapter 63
Tokyo Manji gang wins
Taiju Shiba Vol.10, chapter 80 lose
Taiju Shiba Vol.12, chapter 99-100 no winner
Yasuhiro Muto(Mucho) Vol.16, chapter 139~142 lose
Kakucho Vol.19, chapter 165 no winner
Izana Kurokawa Vol.19, chapter 168 no winner
Tetta Kisaki Vol.21 chapter 180-184 no winner

However, Takemichi’s “never-give-up spirit” is so strong that no matter how many times he is beaten, he never gives up and never faints.

So it’s not that he loses many battles in a row, but there are many “no winner“.

[Tokyo Revengers] How strong is Takemichi Hanagaki (Takemichi), based on his fight scenes!

Now that we have a list of Takemichi’s fights and battles introduced earlier, let’s take a closer look at each of them.

If you look at them in order from the beginning of the story, you can see how Takemichi has fought some terrible opponents as the story progresses.

In the 2nd chapter of the 1st volume of the manga, Takemichi’s second time leap takes place just as the “underground fight” is about to begin.

In front of him, a boy, who has been sent out as a soldier in the “underground fight” just like Takemichi, is in a fighting stance.

Then Takemichi unable to comprehend the situation immediately after the time leap, so he was helplessly punched and KO’d in one punch.

In the 2nd chapter of the 1st volume of the manga, Takuya Yamamoto, a childhood friend of Takemichi’s, was nominated as a fighter for the “underground fight”.

However, just before the start of the fight, Takemichi threw a challenge to Kiyomasa, the organizer of the event, asking him to fight in 1 on 1, and it suddenly became a fight between Takemichi and Kiyomasa.

Kiyomasa is much bigger, and much stronger and more experienced than Takemichi, so Takemichi got beaten up, but he didn’t give up, no matter how many times he gets hit.

And then Kiyomasa, frustrated with Takemichi’s refusal to give up, tells his men to “bring a bat“.

At this point Kiyomasa is beaten up by Mikey, and the battle between Takemichi and Kiyomasa is put on hold.

In chapter 20 of volume 3 of the manga, Takemichi was surrounded by Kiyomasa and his cronies who were planning to kill Draken, and he was outnumbered and outgunned.

At the end of the fight, Takemichi was wrapped in duct tape and left.

However, this is not to say that Takemichi is weak, but if he is surrounded by seven opponents who are older than him, it is natural that a normal person would lose.

In the 25th chapter of the 4th volume of the manga, there is a scene where Takemichi and Kiyomasa fight for the second time.

As mentioned above, Kiyomasa is overwhelmingly stronger than Takemichi even in a normal fight, but this time Kiyomasa starts with a shitty first attack by stabbing Takemichi’s left hand with his dagger.

Kiyomasa then proceeded to dominate the fight, but Takemichi tackled him to the ground and bit him in the side.

Then Takemichi gets behind him, applies a choke sleeper, and drops him.

This is one of the few fights in Tokyo Revengers where Takemichi clearly wins the fight, and it’s a hotly contested scene, as he defeats an opponent he has a history with, and one who has traumatised him throughout his life.

Takemichi’s fighting on “Bloody Halloween”

From the 51st chapter of the 6th volume of the manga to the 63rd chapter of the 8th volume of the manga, there was an all-out war between Tokyo Manji gang and Valhalla, the “Bloody Halloween“.

Although Takemichi got a big win against Kiyomasa, he didn’t achieve much against the older and bigger members of Valhalla.

However, Takemichi didn’t achieve much, but his indomitable spirit inspired Tokyo Manji gang to fight on.

This led to the Draken rampage, and even though Takemichi didn’t achieve any results, he played a big role in it.

In the 80th chapter of the 10th volume of the manga, Takemichi was confronted by, or rather beaten up by, the 10th president of the Black Dragon, Taiju Shiba.

Takemichi is caught and beaten up by Shiba Taiju, who is unbelievable in size, power and strength, and he cannot resist at all and is made to faint.

Takemichi only shows his unyielding mentality when he has a clear mission or objective, so on this occasion, he was defeated in a flash when the battle suddenly started.

And in chapter 99-100 of the 12th volume of the manga, the scene of the one-on-one battle between Takemichi and Shiba Taiju is depicted.

Takemichi’s reach and power are far superior to Taiju’s, and until the middle of the fight, Takemichi was being attacked unilaterally.

But Takemichi’s shot hit Taiju Shiba cleanly on the lower jaw, causing him to go down for the first time in the fight.

Mikey then rushed in and defeated Taiju Shiba, and Draken single-handedly wiped out the Black Dragon troops surrounding the church, bringing the battle of Christmas to a successful conclusion.

Takemichi was beaten up by Mucho (Yasuhiro Muto).

In the manga volume 16, chapter 139-142, we see the fight between Yasuhiro Muto and Takemichi, or rather the execution by Mucho.

Mucho suddenly appears at Takemichi’s house, and without saying a word, beats him up and takes him away.

Then he took him to the place where Hajime Kokonoi(aka Koko) and Seishu Inui(aka Inupi) were also beaten up and detained.

The purpose of the attack was “to extract Koko to Tenjiku” and Mucho threatened to come to Tenjiku if he did not want Takemichi and Inupi to be killed.

Takemichi showed his recklessness in confronting Mucho while tied up behind his back, but in the end, Koko agreed to go down to Tenjiku, where Takemichi and Inupi were released.

Takemichi fought with Kakucho in “Kanto Incident”.

Takemichi fought with Kakucho in (C)Ken Wakui/Shueisha

In Kanto incident, Kakucho was Takemichi’s opponent.

Kakucho is the first of the Four Heavenly Kings of Tenjiku and is so strong that Izana Kurokawa describes the other Four Heavenly Kings as “calm compared to Kakucho”.

In fact, in the face of Kakucho’s unparalleled physical ability, Takemichi’s attacks were completely unsuccessful, and instead he was peppered with punches and kicks that were powerful enough to knock out the other Tokyo Manji gang’s main members.

But even here, Takemichi’s unyielding mental strength kept him going, and even though Takemichi took more damage than Kakucho, his spirit alone kept Kakucho at bay.

In the 168th chapter of the 19th volume of the manga, the fight with Izana Kurokawa, the president of Tenjiku, is described.

Izana Kurokawa is stronger than Kakucho and even goes toe to toe with Mikey, so naturally Takemichi is no match for him.

However, just like Kakucho, Takemichi did not give up with his unyielding spirit even after being attacked by Izana Kurokawa, and endured to the end and was not defeated.

After this, Mikey rushed in, and it was the summit battle between Tokyo Manji gamg and Tenjiku.

Takemichi fought with Tetta Kisaki after “Kanto Incident”.

Takemichi fought with Tetta Kisaki after (C)Ken Wakui/Shueisha

After the “Kanto Incident”, there is a scene where Takemichi and Tetta Kisaki go one on one.

Tetta Kisaki is the culprit behind all the times he killed Hinata in the future, and is Takemichi’s fated opponent throughout the entire Tokyo Revengers story.

Takemichi was shot in the back of his left leg by Tetta Kesaki’s bullet, and he was wounded by the attacks of Kakucho and Izana Kurokawa.

However, Takemichi got the upper hand in the fist fight with Kisaki, and he kicked Kisaki’s hand and took the gun from him.

In the end, however, Kesaki escaped and was hit by a truck on the way to his death.

[Tokyo Revengers] Takemichi Hanagaki (Take-mitchy) is strong because of his never-give-up spirit in fight!(C)Ken Wakui/Shueisha

So far, we have explained the details of Takemichi’s fights and battles in his works, as well as Takemichi’s strength.

As I have said, Takemichi is not a strong fighter, and is completely inferior to the captains and vice captains of Tokyo Manji gang.

However, as I have said, Takemichi’s main strength is not his ability, but his indomitable spirit that will never give up no matter what the situation.

There have been many times in the past when Takemichi has been severely damaged and nearly defeated, but he has never given up, and in the end Tokyo Manji gang has come out victorious.

This is not something you can do just because you’re a strong fighter, and it’s probably because Mikey and Draken saw this indomitable spirit and strong mentality that they liked Takemichi at first sight.

Conclusion of “[Tokyo Revengers] Takemichi’s fight! The Weakest but gradually being stronger!”

In this article, we have explained the strength of Takemichi Hanagaki, aka Take-mitchy, the main character of Tokyo Revengers, along with the fight scenes in the story.

As I said, Takemichi is the main character of Tokyo Revengers, but he is one of the weakest characters in the series.

Therefore, Takemichi doesn’t have any scenes of “knocking down the enemy exhilaratingly”, but his ordinary strength and indomitable heart are the reasons why fans love him.
